Sotheby’s exposes The Pink Star Diamond
James
The largest Flawless, Fancy Vivid pink diamond ever graded by the GIA has been exposed today. It is the most valuable diamond ever offered at auction. It’s estimated to sell for $60 million (£48.3 million) on the auction on the 4th of April in Hong Kong.
The diamond was cut from a 132.5 carat diamond mind in Africa by De Beers. It took two years to make the diamond as it is in its current state. It has been auctioned before for $83 million in November 2013, but the buyer defaulted on his payment, leaving the stone to the Sotheby’s inventory.
